The idea for this project began with a simple realization: many of the remarkable Black people who shaped our world are rarely celebrated together in one place. Inventors, educators, artists, scientists, entrepreneurs, activists, physicians, and visionaries have all left an incredible legacy, yet their stories are often scattered across books, museums, and classrooms.
We want to revitalize and create historical artwork that brings those stories home. This portrait print, crafted in 1909 and extensively restored by us, reminds us that history is filled with Black people whose courage, creativity, and determination changed the world. Whether you're decorating your home, office, classroom, or giving a meaningful gift, we hope each piece inspires you to learn something new every time you look at it.
The Gift of Black Folks celebrates the extraordinary contributions of Black pioneers at the turn of the 19th century. Each portrait print, signed and in a limited series, honors their achievements while creating a timeless piece of art worthy of display.
